CleanScan’s mobile experience is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that runs directly in your smartphone’s browser. There is nothing to install — scanning a QR code or tapping an NFC tag opens the app instantly. Whether you are a building occupant reporting a problem or a porter logging a clean, the experience is designed to take seconds, not minutes.Documentation Index

No app store required
CleanScan does not have a native iOS or Android app. Instead, it is a PWA that opens in your browser whenever someone scans a zone tag or navigates to the CleanScan URL. This means anyone with a smartphone can use it without searching an app store, accepting permissions dialogs, or waiting for an install. Supported browsers:- iOS: Safari (iPhone and iPad)
- Android: Chrome or Edge
NFC tag interactions require Android Chrome or Edge. iOS does not support the Web NFC API. QR code scanning works on all modern smartphones using the native camera app.
Two distinct experiences
CleanScan supports two modes, and they share the same app. The experience you see depends on whether you are logged in. Anonymous reporting — no account required. Anyone who scans a QR code or taps an NFC tag lands on the zone page. They can report an issue or leave a 1–5 star rating without creating an account or entering any personal information. Staff and porter experience — for team members added to CleanScan by a manager. You log in once with your phone number and a one-time SMS code. Your session lasts 30 days. Once authenticated, scanning a tag shows staff-specific actions: logging a clean, resolving an assigned issue, or auditing a zone (supervisors only).Adding the app to your home screen
Staff members who scan tags frequently can save the PWA to their home screen so it opens like a native app — full screen, no browser chrome. On iOS (Safari):
On Android (Chrome):
Offline support
The app caches key data locally so it continues to work in areas with poor or no cell signal. Zone information and your assigned issues load even when connectivity is limited. Submissions made offline sync automatically when your connection is restored. What to do next
